"We attribute the success of the Learning Store to our co-founders and long-time partners Bob and Sandy Hiorns, who recently retired," say Barbara and Dan.

Our team of seven teachers and pre-school specialists are happy to assist customers with options. We are locally owned and operated by former teachers with specialized expertise in mathematics, reading, children’s literature, music, art and social studies.

We love children and believe that good education equips young people to become adults who make our communities a better place to live. Our goal is to help educators and parents with the teaching tools that lead to the best learning possible.

We partner with school districts, independent schools, families and organizations to enrich learners’ educational environments from toddler through high school. We are about the disadvantaged learner and leverage our skills and corporate resources to expand every child’s personal development.

We all live in the Bellingham area and support the local economy. We strive for the lowest product costs while seeking to contribute to the community through our service and our gifts. We donate annually to over 40 non-profit organizations that help kids in our three-county region and in a Kenyan village school overseas. We support many organizations with our time and membership including Northwest Reading Council, Whatcom Chamber of Commerce, Whatcom Literacy Council, Sustainable Connections, Whatcom Women in Business, Kiwanis, Whatcom Home School Association, Project Hope Christmas Angel, Whatcom Council on Early Childhood Education, Skagit Early Childhood Council, and Elder Service Providers.

Launching Success opened in May 2003, after extensive research into the needs of educators in our region. Since then we have worked closely with private schools and a growing number of home-schooling parents in addition to our public school systems. We also help a large number of pre-schools associated with the Whatcom County Opportunity Council. Educational organizations also enjoy using our community room for their meetings.

We believe strongly in life-long education and have materials for adults and seniors. We draw heavily on our years of teaching, developing curriculum, and attending workshops, as we find products and work with our customers. We chose our products personally by attending the industry’s national trade schools and we give special attending to product quality, health, and environmental impact.

We don’t just sell products—we are an educational resource for our region.`
